Jeanne Stafford’s Networking Dinner with Lt.Gen. Mills

What do you do when you are taken out of your comfort zone?

In the four years I’ve been hosting this event, it’s become clear that we learn the most when we are in the company of people unlike ourselves. Facing the unknown requires that we grow as leaders, colleagues, friends, and family members.

It is an honor to host my next guest, a man who knows a thing or two about leadership and personal and professional development.

Lieutenant General Richard Mills is commander of the Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North.

Lt. Gen. Richard P. Mills, deputy commandant for Combat Development and Integration, speaks in front of guests during a keel laying ceremony for the first mobile landing platform ship at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, Jan 19. Ceremony honoree Mrs. Pat Mills, wife of Lt. Gen. Mills, received the privilege of welding her initials into a steel plate to be permanently attached to the ship.During a storied career in uniform, he has commanded at every level from platoon to division and Marine Expeditionary Force. Throughout these experiences, including combat deployments to Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, he has honed an innate ability to inspire others and help them find the best in themselves, especially during times of conflict and fear.

Lt.Gen. Mills hails from Huntington, New York.  He no doubt uncovered his most rewarding leadership and communication strategies as the father of six children with Pat Mills, a native of Brooklyn.

He will serve as Honorary Marshal of the New York City Veterans Day Parade this year, upon completing four decades of loyal service in the Marine Corps.  Many see this as a homecoming for him. I am honored he said yes to the invitation to be with us on November 12th.

Please join us to hear the general’s thoughts on operating outside our comfort zones and how he has evolved in his own life as he transitions to his next career.

You will connect with inspiring fellow New Yorkers and leave with tools to think bigger in every space you enter!
